Creative Arts

Our Creative Arts committee collaborates with administration and classroom teachers to offer engaging programs that complement the classroom curriculum. In addition to funding field trips that bring kids outside of school, musicians, meteorologists, bee-keepers and others visit our classrooms each year to really make learning come alive for our students.

SWES Cares

Giving back to our community through our Sunita Williams Cares program is an important part of our students’ education. Opportunities to assist those in need are offered both in-school as well as out of school for the whole family to participate in. Follow the link to find out what we are doing this year.

UDA

Each of the 5 elementary schools in Needham have adopted this workshop-based framework to provide multi-sensory activities, speakers and discussions run by parent volunteers to introduce students to a broad range of differing abilities, both visible and invisible, to reinforce that we are all different, and that is what makes us the same. The goal is to teach students that everyone is unique but we all want to be treated with kindness and respect. Each grade focuses on a different disability through workshops and speakers:

Kindergarten: Introduction to UDA

1st Grade: Blindness and Visual Impairments

2nd Grade: Deafness and Hearing Impairments

3rd Grade: Physical Disabilities

4th Grade: Learning Differences

5th Grade: Developmental Disabilities/Differences
